This show about the challenges of new motherhood allowed us to use older songs by newer artists to highlight the tensions and contradictions of parenting.  I also used realistic atmospheric sounds and baby monitors sound effects to flesh out the world and specifics of the new parent sound scape.

The world of the play is the distant future.  Based on the script I pulled artifacts of consumerist sound and to populate and enhance this dystopian vision of the future, while also supporting the humor found in the piece. - photo by Dan Norman

Jumping back and forth in time as the play progresses, this show revolves around characters of faith and how failure and doubt can challenge that faith.   Delving deep into religious music for transitions and juxatoposing it with something more ethereal to indicate fate/the unknown.  I also collaborated with Lights and set as the clock "hands" on stage were able to move with sound to indicate time manipulation.

"One thing there's no conflict about is the fantastic sound track of country, gospel, and spiritual songs, created by Sound Designer Montana Johnson"- Cherry and the Spoon Reviews

Using a mixture of orchestral music with pop music of the 1960's this show provided fun opportunities to do playful design that evokes nostalgia for the past and hope for the future.
